    3. Dear Reed, The Griffith's Valuation Index (County Mayo 1856/57) lists John Conroy in the townland of Ballintaffy, Kilcolman Parish and a Michael Roach in the townland of Drumneen South, Kilcolman Parish. This is the only parish where both surnames appear together. There aren't that many Roaches in County Mayo. I cannot say for certain if this is the parish where your family came from but it is a good starting point. I have found many families using this method. According to Dr. Ryan's Irish Records for Kilcolman County Mayo you look at Castlemore Parish, County Roscommon. (it must have been in the area where the borders were redrawn). According to the IIrish Catholic Directory of 1996: Ballaghaderreen (Castlemore and Kilcolman) Cathedral of The Annunciation and St. Nathy The Presbytery, Ballaghaderreen County Roscommon Phone - 0907-60011 ( if this # doesn't work check with the operator because a few years ago County Mayo and some other areas had their area codes or part of the phone number changed. Good luck in your search.
