Author: thisledome1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.ireland.may.general/7568.1.1.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi Oceanstrands We went to the church and spoke to the priest there and he kindly looked up his records to find the death date of John Killeen my g/grandfather ,then we went to Roscommon and got his death certificate .The priest couldnt find anything on his wife Ellen Killeen ,but what we did find out of there neigbours was that the youngest son Edward sold the farm and moved away i cant remember the place name now but it was close to Rosscommon .We did ask a lady that was working in the register office if she could look for a death of a Ellen Killeen .Which she did and came up with the death certificate of an Ellen Killeen dying in a old folks home in 1943 her husband (deceased ) was a farmer the person who registered the death was another paitent in the home . Bye this time Edward had gone to the US to be with his brother ,my grandfather .So iam 99% sure this was my g/grandmother . The reason for all this searching is iam trying to find out what happened to my grandfather he married my grandmother in 1922 in the UK my mum was born in 1922 and 3 years later he went to the US to his brothers John and Thomas ,when my mum was 10 he came back to the UK but only stayed 3 months and went back they corresponded till 1937 and then no word from him again . I knew he had a sister who lived in the US so i have been trying to follow her paper trail for the last 2 years as well ,To cut a long story short iam now in contact with Sabina,s grandaughter who now lives in San Dieago Cal . Sabina had 3 children who are all dead now so this grandaughter is getting in touch with siblings and cousins to see if they can remember if there was any mention in there family of Sabina,s brother my grandfather.Dont hold out much hope but at least i have found cousins in the US .
