I suspect the nonresponse of the first pastor was due to his age, not greed. I've almost always received responses from my letters to parish priests. Keep in mind that they're often understaffed and elderly. If they must choose between attending to parishioners or answering letters from abroad, they'll do the former, but most, in my experience, do both. Diane
