Hi, On Friday, 8th August, 'Bill' wrote: 'No need for these types of tirades on the General Web. A discreet message .... saying Hi, and that there was a misinterpretation .... would suffice, don't you think so?' A common issue in the early days of E-mailing was the misunderstanding of the meaning behind the text. It's cause was the nature of E-mailing; it being conversational style in letter format. The problem often was, and still is, the difficulty in conveying tone in writing and the result is the spats we're seeing, of the 'Oh, no, I didn't say that', 'Oh, yes, you did' type. All I can suggest is a re-reading of mailings before they're posted, to make sure they say what is meant. But if you are offended by a message, think of what Bill said. He got it right. Dom O'Malley.
