Here's the link and you can click on the map to make it bigger: http://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/historical/champlain_1844.jpg I think the mapquest map is probably better to really see the small towns all along Lake Champlain and down the Hudson River for Vermont and western New York State: http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Burlington&state=VT I took the ferry from Port Kent over to Burlington across Lake Champlain and down the Vermont side to all the small towns and villages. I had gone north along the New York side and stopped at the towns and villages along the route to research local records there. The topography of the area is very much like Mayo and many of the original emigrants were farmers all along the areas there. I can't imagine how they survived the weather though. The climate here is so temperate compared to the Vermont and upstate New York winters with frigid temperatures and immense amounts of snow that stays there often until spring according to the locals and late spring at that!
