If he was born in Rathlacken, church parish records for his religious denomination would be the possible source for a baptismal record for him if he was born there although the parish registers would have to be searched for all years since there isn't a birth year for him and there aren't any parents names. Have you posted on the Newcastle Australia message board to see if you can get information about him there, i.e. ships passenger record to Australia, Australian census records, etc.?
