Reed Livingston: A search of the IFHF at _http://ifhf.brsgenealogy.com/_ (http://ifhf.brsgenealogy.com/) provides the following: Conroy is not listed but appears as Conry -- Michael Born 1806 - 1822 -- only appears 10 times in Roscommon & Westmeath. Ellen Roach/Roche born 1806 - 1822 appears 69 times, primarily in Cork, Kilkenny, Tipperary, & Limerick. A few in Galway and 1 in Dublin. (Clare not indexed as yet) Marriage for Michael Conry between 1832 & 1836 -- only 8 Marriages; Roscommon (2), Kildare (2), Westmeath, Tipperary, Galway in 1833, & Cork. Marriage for Ellen Roach/ Roche Between 1832 & 1836 --21 Marriages, in 3 counties (Cork, Limerick & Kilkenny) I should note that "Roach" appears for Ellen as born in 1808 in Kilkenny & Marriage in Kilkenny in 1833. Mary Conroy / Conry born in 1836, only appears in 4 counties; Armagh, Galway, Tyrone & Roscommon. Given that you have limited information, My best guess would be to search for the Parishes in the IFHF for Roscommon or Galway & Kilkenny. Hope this helps. Hello Ed, Since the message was posted on the County Mayo list it would seem logical that Mary Ellen Conroy would have been born/baptised in County Mayo and not in any of the other 32 counties or 64,000 towns and townlands in Ireland. There's a list of the names of all the towns and townlnads in Ireland on the Ireland Townland Database http://www.seanruad.com and pick any county of interest. If you look at County Mayo you'll see there are 3505 towns and townlands in County Mayo where she could have been born. Because people have the same given and surnames doesn't mean any connection to Mary Conroy or her specific family. It's just basically a same name search. Of course people can "adopt" people who are no connection to them whatsoever. In addition to identifying that not all records are included in the "IFHF-BRS" database it should also be mentioned there's at least a 30 per cent error rate in the data entry in the database. You also don't mention if your search was just for Roman Catholic parishes or included Church of Ireland (Anglican) parishes also. Look at the IFHF maps of counties covered to see not all counties are there: http://ifhf.brsgenealogy.com/map.php?&set=yes Then look at the individual counties which are included for the records sources used. For example, you quote Roscommon and Westmeath: Here are the records included in Roscommon, note many of the Roman Catholic parish records don't go back far enough to include a baptism for 1836: http://roscommon.brsgenealogy.com/generic.php?filename=sources.tpl&selectedMenu=showdatabase Here's Westmeath: http://westmeath.brsgenealogy.com/generic.php?filename=sources.tpl&selectedMenu=showdatabase Not all of County Cork is even included in the database let alone the Roman Catholic parish records, just "North Cork" is there. Here are the "North Cork" Roman Catholic parish records detail: http://corknortheast.brsgenealogy.com/generic.php?filename=sources.tpl&selectedMenu=showdatabase Here are the Roman Catholic parish maps for All of County Cork, click on each area on the maps to identify the years covered in the records and where they can be accessed: http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/browse/counties/rcmaps/corkrc.htm Kilkenny: http://kilkenny.brsgenealogy.com/generic.php?filename=sources.tpl&selectedMenu=showdatabase Tipperary: North Tipp: http://tipperarynorth.brsgenealogy.com/generic.php?filename=sources.tpl&selectedMenu=showdatabase South Tipp: http://tipperarysouth.brsgenealogy.com/generic.php?filename=sources.tpl&selectedMenu=showdatabase Those records exclude the Diocese of Cashel and Emly which has only recently allowed access to the microfilms at the National Library of Ireland in Dublin, compare the names of the Roman Catholic parishes in County Tipperary with the parishes listed in the "IFHF-BRS", click on each parish on the maps to see the dates covered in the records: http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/browse/counties/rcmaps/tipperaryrc.htm County Limerick: http://limerick.brsgenealogy.com/generic.php?filename=sources.tpl&selectedMenu=showdatabase County Galway: East Galway: http://galwayeast.brsgenealogy.com/generic.php?filename=sources.tpl&selectedMenu=showdatabase West Galway: http://galwaywest.brsgenealogy.com/generic.php?filename=sources.tpl&selectedMenu=showdatabase County Dublin or Dublin City?
