My grandfather John Gaughan was the younger brother of Mary Gaughan. He lived in West Calder in Scotland near New Briech where your grandfather was born. My mother visited the Barretts in their pub after they returned to Ballina and used to write to her cousin Willie Barrett - your uncle. I have done a fair bit of research on the Gaughans and have photographs of the farm in Ballinsleva etc. While in Ballina earlier this year I had the please to meet Carol Williams the daughter of William Barrett and her cousin Michael Barrett.
