The mysterious Oceanstrands writes: === Cloonrow is on the R416 (rural road) 1 1/2 miles from the village of Urlaur on the way to the village of Gorthnganny. === This would corroborate the location that had been mentioned before, and thanks for that. But I'm certainly dubious about the R 416 road designation. All of the R (regional) roads in Mayo are in the 300's - except for some of those which cross county borders. The R 416 goes through Newbridge in Co. Kildare. I had thought that this local road you mentioned might have been originally one of the "L" roads, but that doesn't seem to be the case (based on the old 1/2" maps). I'm curious where you got the R416 designation........especially as the more roads that can be identified by number, the better the driving situation will be in Ireland [gr]. Is there a new series of local road numberings now being introduced? Inquisitive minds want to know..........
