Author: rowenaredding93 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.ireland.may.general/2457.1.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi Philomena,this is you'r cousin Tina,I don't know if you know,that you dads mums maiden name was Corley,over the years as you know,the spelling of names changed.spelling variations of this name include MacCorley,Curley,Curlee,Curling,Kirlee McCurley,McCurly and many more but i'm still looking them up.this name was first found in the connacht counties of Roscommon and Galway,and Galway is where nan came from.I'm not sure whereabout it was in Galway yet ,but i'm working on it.My dad was born in Bellaghy in Sligo it is on the border of mayo,[Charlestown] I found this out from the Red Cross in Geneva,as he was a prisoner of war,I got a copy of his capture card,also i have a copy of the Battle in which he was captured, I got this from the website of the BBC.iT WAS WRITTEN BY A MAN WHO WAS ACTUALLY THERE from his Regiment,I read this quite a lot and it made me so proud of my dad,more than i was anyway.I know our grandparents were farmers,not sure if it was Corley or SKEFFINGTONS! OR BOTH,MY BROTHER mALCOLM AND ME HAVE DONE A LOT OF SEARCHING AND MAY HAVE FOUND OUR ROOTS,iHAD A LADY DO A LOOKUP FOR ME AND SHE GAVE ME QUITE LIST,I BELEIVE WE HAVE FOUND THEM,iWILL GET ALL THE INFO TOGETHER AND PASS IT ON TO YOU VERY SOON,[GOT LOADS OF PAPERS TO GO THROUGH]WILL DO THIS A.S.A.P.
