My mom's maiden name is Higgins and all her family come from Pulronhone, Kiltimagh, Co. Mayo. The problem is that Higgins is like Smith or Jones in Ireland and so you will find many dead ends. My grandfather Michael Francis Higgins left Ireland in the 1940s and came to the UK where he met and married an English girl called Violet Newman. Michael had two brothers Patrick & Thomas and three sisters Mary, Margaret and Agnes; his parents were Thomas Higgins and Mary Lavin, his grandparents were Thomas Higgins and Bridget Mullany. I do have some James's in my tree but I don't know anything about them; one was the cousin of my great grandad. If you can find out where in Mayo they came from this will narrow it down; my family are well known in Pulronhone area and all the Higgins's from there are related.
