Your Grandfather Michael Francis Higgins left Ireland 40 years after mine. My Grandfather JAMES HIGGINS left prior to 1901 where he is listed on the 1901 UK Census as lodging at the Shamrock Tavern 14 Tea Street Prescot Lancashire where my Grandmother MARY ELLEN COMER (nee DONNELLY, who had lost her first husband THOMAS COMER in 1900, was the Beerhouse Keeper. THOMAS COMER came from Carrarodgers Castlebar Co Mayo. As yet I only know my JAMES HIGGINS came from Co Mayo and his father also JAMES HIGGINS was a Farmer. My father was PATRICK JOSEPH HIGGINS born 1908 and his brothers and sisters were JAMES born 1902, JOHN born 1903, FRANCES born 1905, PATRICK born 1908, JEFFREY born 1910, MARY born 1913, JAMES J born 1913 (they were twins) & MICHAEL born 1916. One of JAMES's died at Birth and the other was aged 1 year when he died. The two witnesses on my Grandfather's marriage certificate were PATRICK McDONNELL and KATE ROONEY. I don't know if they were related or not. My Grandmother MARY ELLEN DONNELLY came from Waterford. Where did your HIGGINS's live in UK?
