    2. When my great grandmother Bridget?Casey?immigrated from Mayo County to America she changed her name to Beatrice.? I read somewhere that it was common at that time for Bridget to become Beatrice when immigrating because Bridget was such a common name and because Bridget was sometimes considered to be synonymous with servant.
