Margaret died 8 May 1857 at Highmarket, Lewis County. Her tombstone tells that she was a native of Parish Kilfian, County Mayo, Ireland. 2) EdPatLogan Posted: 6 Apr 2007 I found Margaret Mullarkey McHale in the 1850 Census in Boonville, Oneida County, NY, USA. She was born in 1799 (51) and her children (6) living with her, agree with Elizabeth's original posting. I still have not been able to link Margaret Mullarkey to my "Mullarkey's / Malarkey's. 3) In late 2007 I found additional information on another "Margaret Mullarkey" of Amsterdam, Mont. Co., NY. This info was not posted to this thread because it was the one I was looking for. In Summary; RESEARCH INFO ------ RE: MARGARET MULLARKEY OF AMSTERDAM, NY. "A" Margaret Mullarkey was God-Mother to Patrick Malarkey (1865), Son of James & Marie Caviston Malarkey. This was the only Margaret Mullarkey found in 1870 Census. 1870 Edward Mullarkey (Ire - 49 - 1821) living in Amsterdam, Montgomerty Co, NY, w/Wife, Margaret Unk, Mullarkey (Ire - 47 - 1823) & 4 children. All children b. Ireland. Edward works in Oil Mill. Children: Anna - 19, Mary - 17, James - 15, and Maggie (Margaret) - 7. 4) genevieve32872 Posted: 2 Jan 2009 I read you post and this is my line. Margaret Mullarkey is buried in Highmarket (NY). With all of this reviewed, I concluded that Margaret Mullarkey of Highmarket was not the Margaret Mullarkey I was looking for. Hi, >From an on-line BMD index I've found a death entry for a Philip Lenahan in 1881 and I have an ancestor of this name who probably died around 1882. However, the death entry is from Newport district, Mayo and my ancestor lived in Gortnaheltia townland, Addergoole parish, Mayo. Although this townland became part of the Newport electoral division from 1898, I believe that the registration districts were based on Poor Law Union areas which would make Gortnaheltia part of Castlebar district in 1881. Can anyone confirm which registration district Gortnaheltia townland was part of in 1881. Thanks, Dom O'Malley.
