Peter, I don't have your original e-mail but remember birth registration didn't start until 1864 and it didn't catch on at once. Also, no site has everything. For example, familysearch.org has the civil registration indexes (most of them) but few baptisms. Rootsireland.ie has many more baptisms, but not in all counties. Diane

Diana Thank your for your two replies. I am still trying to sort out the THOMAS COLLINS _ MARY HORAN family from 1854 which is the birth or MICHAEL COLLINS who might be my grandfather. We talked about this during July this year and you gave me the LDS film no. The family seems fine, but to confirm that it is the correct one I need to establish that THOMAS COLLINS was a TAILOR [which was the profession given on Grandfather's wedding cert]. I know that this is on MARY COLLINS birth cert [20 April 1868] but I would like one of the other children's father to be a tailor as well . I know I am hoping for a lot but after all it is Christmas and that would be a nice little gift [Big Grin]!! I have not found their marriage yet!!!
