There are 3 Ellen's but none in the Poor Law Union of Newport. Newport is a Poor Law Union, a Townland and a Town. Parish of Burrishoole, Newport. In the 1853 Griffiths there are only a Daniel Kelly, a Eliza Kelly and a Alice Walsh. If Ellen was a widow the holding would be in her name. In the birth records there are only those born in Kilkenny that would be the right age for Kieran Kelly, prior to 1829. There are 46 Kiernan in all born in Ireland that there are records for. Ellen Walsh 143, 0 in Mayo. Margaret Walsh 630, 1 born 1836 Galway However, I think the spelling of Kieran is getting in the way of verifying he is the father of the 1836 Margaret, and got no record nor any siblings also probably because of spelling. Depending on how old Margaret was when she moved to the Wirral she may or may not have gone with her parents. Do you have a census for Birkenhead such as 1851. In 1841 there were 143 Margaret Kelly's born in Ireland but no Kieran Kelly nor is he in the 1871 Census. I have a program that identified irish born persons but only 1841 & 1871. For Kieran to be in the 1871 he would be about 61-71? For a start I would go with the 1851 UK census first, with all names, Ellen maybe easier than Margaret. There are 11 Kelly's still in the telephone directory for Newport and 70 Walsh's. Annette Code Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
