My tree is also public. I had my DNA done through 23andme.com once registered, people set up a user profile. you can start a tree, and put anything in your profile, most people put their surnames, towns, cities, country. so I share DNA with these 2 people who list Roach and Ruane / Ballina, Sligo, Mayo, and town here in the US, list goes on and so do the surnames. So i'm trying to find the connection between the surnames. these 2 people list US cities also where I had Irish relative living. My cousin also said that 'Martin's sister' lives in Chicago too, except I don't know who this Martin is. Maybe you? anyhow, we recently discovered Ellen through her mother's obit and havn't had the chance to exchange a whole lot of information with her yet. My McNulty's did first settle in Cincinnati but went back to Ireland in 1888. I don't know if any were left living in Cincy. I think there is one that I heard of, John McNulty that was in Cleveland years ago. Bell doesn't ring to me at all. I aslo share DNA with Roache. Now Chicago, I think we have a distant relative out there somewhere, she is new to us, havn't met her yet and we need to exchange a lot of information still. She comes from my great-great grandfather's second wife from Cincy (who went back to Ireland with him / children. see my tree, but she's not on it yet. If you have the right two women as the sisters, his name was probably Patrick Michael, or he was called either one or the other. If father was Patrick so called son Patrick Micheal but he was known as Patrick, maybe Mary thought she should use his legal name. Irish names are a puzzle as everyone was called the same names. Even in recently modern times, my husband's father was known as Charlie, so you would think his name was Charles as he had legal documents but when he died his mother had to write a letter to say that Lloyd Daniel was Charlie!! His father's name was Daniel so wouldn't you figure they would call him Lloyd, no Charlie. His wife thought his name was Charles and that name was given to my husband as a second name! Bryan Mchugh was not in the Griffith valuatiuon he may have died or been evicted there is a record of his head tenant been evicted. Bryan's two sons Patrick the eldest and Edward according to local lore emigrated ihn 1849. There is a comment in the 1880's that they may be in Pennyslvania or Canada. It is believed James McHugh of Kilhale a townland close by was his brother. James son Bryan was evicted in 1849 but appeared in the Griffith valuation about 1860. John was a much used name and might give you too many choices. Celia might be OK but I would go with Richard. Once you have Richard you will know the Parish/Place and mother's name and maiden name. With mother's name you can search for marriage record which was probably about 20 years 1845. Civil Registration began in 1864 and you might find one of the children there? you can also find deaths after 1864 www.familysearch.org most of the records I found were too late if moved to US in the 1860's so here are some examples: Richard Barret 2 born in 1866 Cisly born 26 Aug 1869 Binghamstyown, Mayo Parents: Thomas Barrett, and Sabina Crane Celia born Jan 1867 - no parents listed Celia died 1865 Ballina age 70 estimated year born based on age given at death (1795) (this might be a gr.grandmother who Thomas possibily named his daughter after!)
