I was browsing and saw your reply to me from 2005. I'm so sorry. My gggrandfather Michael Conway married Sarah Kerrigan in 1856 Scottland. Michael was born 1835 and Sarah 1834. I'm not sure if they were born in Scottland or Ireland (seemed to move around alot) Sarahs father is Patrick and her mother is Judy Ford. Michael and Sarah immigrated to U.S. in May 1884, they came thru Canada. Their children... Mary, Daniel, Terrence, James, Anthony (my ggrandfather)and Sarah....I think all were born in Scottland except Terrence, he was born in Binghamstown (Mayo) Ireland. There could be more children (I just found out about the girls about a month ago) Does this sound like any connection to you? In the IFHF Database, John "Gillmor" married in Ballyovey RC Parish in 1850. Mary "Gilmor" was baptized in 1852 & Anne "Gilmor" was baptized in 1854 in the Ballinrobe RC Parish. Catherine "Gilmore" was baptized in 1850 in Behan RC Parish. You would need to purchase the records to confirm Parents. Records found at http://ifhf.brsgenealogy.com/, which is free to use but costly to buy. Gilmore's in Mayo for GV are listed but all data is from 1857, and Your John is probably not included in data. See http://griffiths.askaboutireland.ie/gv4/gv_start.php Hope this helps. Ed (Pat) Logan of Philly Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: DianeCulhane Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.ireland.may.general/7895.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Griffith's Valuation was done in Mayo in 1856-57, about the time John and Mary emigrated. The Griffith's index on failteromhat.com shows 21 Gilmores in Mayo, along with their civil parishes. The Irish Family History Foundation Web site shows a Mary Gilmore daughter of John born in 1852 and Ann daughter of John born in 1854. You could pay 5 euros apiece to get the parishes for those births, or you could plug in the parishes from the Griffith's index, one by one, and see if you get a match. Once you have the parish, you can probably get the baptisms/christenings from church records filmed by the LDS. If your relatives were Church of Ireland (CofI) the civil parish will correspond to the CofI parish, but if they were Catholic, the name of the parish could well be different. It's too bad the townlands were not listed in the church record. It would make it a lot easier to figure out which Mayocks you're connected to. That Farrell Hopkins listed as a witness may or may not be my great grandfather. I'm leaning more towards his not being my great grandfather. I know there was a Farrell Hopkins on Shanvolley townland and according to my cousin in Crimlin/Crumlin those Hopkinses are not related to those in Crimlin/Crumlin although DNA testing may prove him wrong.
