Author: CharLou104 Surnames: CONCANNON, JORDAN, WALSH Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.ireland.may.general/1680.92/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am searching for the birth record for Martin James Concannon. He was born, he reported, Nov. 11, 1836, in County Mayo. I have found that his wife, Anne Walsh, was baptized in Balla RC Parish in 1839. They were married about 1862 in County Mayo and their first child was born there in 1863 -- before immigrating to the US in 1864. Do you find the birth of Martin Concannon in 1836? His father's name may have been Patrick. Thank you for your help. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. To Summerssnow bear I have Kearns relatives from Mayo. They were from Castlebar, Keelkill, Breaghy. My great grandmother- Mary Kennedy- was married to James Kearns sometime before 1848.They had 3 children, Patrick, Mary Ann and James. Patrick and Mary Ann emigrated to Cleveland , Ohio around 1858. James senior died around 1856 and Mary Kearns married John Burke in 1858. They had 3 children, including my grandmother, Margaret Burke O'Donnell. Mary Burke and her 3 Burke children emigrated to Cleveland in 1881. Any connection? gc-gateway@rootsweb.com wrote: > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Author: Summersnowbear > Surnames: > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.ireland.may.general/7532.2/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > I also am a Kearns decendent. Is your family related to Patrick Coyle (1827-1904) who married Mary Smith (1835 - Bef. 1900)? U.S. Census for 1900, 1910, 1920 list son Thomas Albert Coyle and all (3) of these censuses show his parents' birth place as "Connecticut"; however, the data I have (from other researchers) all say Patrick and Mary were born in Ireland. Are you sure about the place? The Irish Family History Foundation Web site shows many Kearns births in Mayo for that time period, but only after 1835 for those with a father named James. However, the Web site list is not complete and a parish would allow you to search church records. Diane Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. The difficulty appears to be because being Roman Catholic was not considered appropriate at the time and because our Priests of the current day consider records as their "fountain of glory", which can be sold for the highest quote. Met one Priest who considered it important because of a purely roots issue who aided me and accepted a donation for his services. A true man and a very rare find in todays Ireland.
