    1. [IRL-MAYO] Questions: Cloonrow, Kilkelly, GRENNAN, Marriage records
    2. Rachel Goulet
    3. Hello, I'm only just getting started with the genealogy on my Irish side (which immigrated to Rhode Island, USA abt 1890). Today I received my great-great-great grandfather's death certificate from Ireland (James GRENNAN, died 1884) and found my great-geat-grandmother's baptismal record (Sabina GRENNAN, baptised 1867) on http://www.mayoancestors.com. Both events are seem to have occured at Cloonrow, Kilkelly, Swinford, County Mayo, Ireland. Could anyone tell me whether Cloonrow in this case would have been a village, a street name, estate name or what? I've found Kilkelly on the map with google maps - it looks like a very small village. Does anyone know how I could learn more about it? Also, I did search http://www.mayoancestors.com for the marriage of Sabina's parents - James GRENNAN to Mary MORAN likely before 1857, but was unsuccessful. Does anyone have any advice on where I could look next, apart from just having to order the microfilm from an LDS Family History Centre? Sorry for what might be basic questions - I appreciate any help as I get started here. Regards, Rachel Goulet

I was trying to determine if PATRICK COMER & MARGARET CONWAY were THOMAS's parents but I never got a reply until your message yesterday. I am related to WILLIAM (Willie) COMER born 1900 who was MAGGIE COMER'S cousin. WILLIAM was the son of THOMAS COMER born 1870-1872 in Carrarodgers & MARY ELLEN DONNELLY born 1875 in Waterford. He was my Uncle. MARGARET (MAGGIE) COMER was the daughter of THOMAS's brother JAMES COMER. THOMAS COMER died in 1900 in Prescot Lancashire England. MARY ELLEN DONNELLY married again in 1902 in Prescot Lancashire to JAMES HIGGINS who was from somehere in Ireland (Haven't found where yet). They brought WILLIAM up but I think when MARY ELLEN died in 1923 WILLIAM was taken to CO MAYO to live with JAMES and his cousin MARGARET. I am in contact with a couple of COMER's in MAYO. I was brought up in Liverpool England and have been in Australia since 1965. I would love to hear how you are related and if you have any more info. I have a photo of MAGGIE & WILLIE COMER with a cousin of mine from Liverpool taken in 1985. What is your name? Author: blue9207 Surnames: McDermott, McAndrew Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.ireland.may.general/1680.84.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My mother was Margaret McDermott of Carrarodgers County Mayo. She landed in the USA on 3/17/1929 at the age of 18. There were, at most, a handful of families who lived in Carrarodgers: McDermott and Comer (my Mom's cousins--I met Maggie Comer in 2002 and had a cup of tea with her in her cottage) among them. So, if you have family from there, I would say that 99.9% we are related. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. MY GM was 1st born to Michael CARLON and Catherine HUGHES in Newcastle-under-lyme in 1901 and the family moved to Haydock (near St. Helens) UL Lancashire ....so if they were in their 20s they would be born 1880..she married my GF and had my father in 1921 in Lancashire..... So I am just getting started on her research.... Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. It is on the side of the Balla that is hilly and rockie. I'm not sure if this helps or not. William Kearns Descendent. 2. It's at www.irish-roots.ie It's free to register and search the index, but you have to pay to see complete transcriptions. Click on Mayo, then Mayo births, then register, then search for Concannon births or baptisms around 1863 with the father named Martin. I got 6 within a few years of 1863, including a Patrick born in 1863. You could pay for the entries or, by trying Balla or other parishes around it, narrow it down a bit, then either pay the site or rent the film from the LDS. Diane
