I don't remember the years you're interested in, but if past 1863, you could check the civil records index online on familysearch.org (Killasser and Kilbeagh in Swineford registration district). Also don't know about a map of Mayo parishes (I always consult Mitchell's Genealogical Atlas of Ireland), but I'll bet you can find one by Googling. I had the same issue with Co. Sligo's and found them, alibet in pieces, online here and there, as it seems most just transcribed their families surnames and, understandably, did no more but I was able to piece them together). LASTLY, does Co. Mayo now have a library with the maps online (as the other counties do). Thanks so much Murph_ Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. In each case they married in the bride's county but lived in the groom's. Kilmacteague civil parish (Tourlestrane RC)is large and borders on several Mayo parishes. However, comparing my road atlas with the parish maps, it looks like the Aclare-Swinford road would be closest to Killasser and Charlestown/Kilbeagh RC parishes in Mayo, especially the former. Killasser records are on LDS film 1279232, items 16-17 (1847-1902) and Kilbeagh on 1279230, 1-6 (bap. start 1855, mar. start 1845). You could also check the Irish Family History Foundation site. Sligo, ancestors might have went the other way (e.g. towards Swinford) to a RC Church in Co. Mayo. Then it dawned on me that I never ever researched this as I always concentrated on Co. Sligo and those County church records (St. Attracta microfische) and never once looked what parishes were in Co. Mayo and if they possibly had any records, and what Microfisches they were at Salt Lake. In fact, it seems in researching blinders were on just to one area, Kilmactigue, and I have neglected looking in a circle around the area to see if anything was put, or records created, in these other areas!!! Gosh, sometimes one's brain does not work properly!! Sooo, if someone could someone be so kind and tell me what Parishes are in Co. Mayo along the Co. Sligo border near Kilmactigue (on the road from Aclare to Swinford) and what RC Churches and/or Parishes are there (and any links, contacts, databases online for them)? IT WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED And any help is likewise more than welcome! As my ancestors come from Townlands Knockbrack, Stonepark, right on the border of Co. Sligo and Co. Mayo, and I do not think any went to other Churches and am pretty sure I covered most records, I would be negligent not to check these areas.....and I still have not been through everything in Co. Sligo but not being there presents difficulties one cannot overcome easily.... Thanks in Advance. Murph_ Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
