Author: DianeCulhane Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.ireland.may.general/1680.95.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The on-line birth index shows two Daniel Sullivans born in Co. Limerick in 1877, one in Kilmallock registration district (southeast) and one in Newcastle (southwest). If he was born in March, it's more likely he was the Newcastle registration because that was earlier in the year. Newcastle would be on film 101209, vol. 10, p. 664; Kilmallock would be on film 101219, vol. 20, p. 344. You can also get the registrations from the GRO in Ireland (groireland.ie), though it costs a little more than renting the films. (Keep in mind the on-line index isn't perfect. Some of my ancestors don't show up even though I have their registrations. But it's free, so a good place to start.) Author: irishmurr Surnames: Murray Quinn Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.ireland.may.general/7949/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello all, My husband's family was thought to come from County Mayo, because most of the settlers in the area where they lived were from County Mayo. We have no substantiation of that from our records here in the United States. We're planning a trip to Ireland next year and hoped to do some research while we're there and wondered if anyone had any suggestions or ideas of where we should look. We do know the name of the parents: John Murray and Mary Quin. Sons John (born 1835) and James C. (born June 18, 1839) both came to the United States as young men and married here. John immigrated in 1864 and James in May 1858. We've run up against a brick wall and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! She was married to John Murray, both born in Ireland and as far as we know, they remained there. Two of their sons, John (b. 1835) and James (b. 1839) came to the United States -- James in 1858 and John in 1864. James is my husband's great grandfather, but that's the extent of our knowledge of the Quin family. We are going to be making another trip to Ireland next year and hope to do a little further research on our Murray family while we're there. Looking for a John and James Murray in Ireland? Wish us luck! :-) Carole King Murray Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 2. david o'malley
    3. Hi, Something that does not seem to be being advertised. For anyone with English ancestors who are within easy reach of The National Archives at Kew, London. There is full access to the 1911 England census available, for free. A3 copies of the original pages cost 20p each. Time at the terminals is restricted to one hour per person at the moment, so do your searches on-line at home first and go there knowing exactly what you want to copy. Have fun, David O'Malley.

Author: DianeCulhane Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.ireland.may.general/7948.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: According to the irishtimes.com site, Balla parish records have been filmed back to 1837 (LDS film 1279209, items 2-3), probably too late for Ellen's baptism or her parents' marriage, but it should have the baptisms of younger siblings, and perhaps some of the marriages, too. You could also write St. Cronan's Church in Balla to see if they have earlier records, and specifically mention Ellen's birth and her parents' marriage. Martin's father is said to be John Thomas Delaney. Ann's father is reported to be Patrick Curley. Ellen Delaney is the 2nd child of Martin and Ann Delaney, reportedly born in January of 1836. I am guessing Ann Curley Delaney was about 20 years old when Ellen was born. Any assistance as to where to locate marriage, baptism and or birth records in Balla Parish is greatly appreciated!
