If you want to order them ($2 apiece from the LDS or 4 euros apiece from the GRO), e-mail me directly and I'll help you. However, I should note that women rarely reported they were older than they actually were, so if she was born in 1865, it's unlikely she would have said 1863 (unless she was mistaken). The death index shows the death of a Michael Mulroy in Swineford in 1933, born about 1865, but your Michael Mulroy left Ireland, so it's not likely to be him. Author: DianeCulhane Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.ireland.may.general/7951.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Unfortunately, Michael was born before civil birth registration started in 1864, and the filmed parish records begin in 1871. However, Griffith's valuation was done about the time Michael was born, and the Griffith's index on failteromhat.com shows 3 Mulroys holding leases in Toomore civil (Foxford RC) parish: Thomas in Leckee townland and 2 Patricks in the town of Foxford. One of them might have been a brother or uncle of John's. Since you have a birth year, I'd suggest you write the largest church in Foxford, Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Michael, and ask them to look for Michael's 1863 baptism. (You could push your luck and ask for other children of John's if they have time.) Be sure to include an offering, as they are probably inundated with such requests and the searches can be time consuming. Author: ClaireHoban Surnames: Carroll and Hoban Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.ireland.may.general/7950/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi all, I was wondering if anyone would be able to carry out a search for a marriage between these two families? My family and I have always believed that our family came from Capparanny in Turlough, Co. Mayo; however I have recently found out that although my great grandfather (Denis Hoban b. 1894) was born there along with his brothers and sisters his father (Pat Hoban) was not! This has thrown a spanner in works so to speak and I can't get any further with my research. BUT... I have also recently learnt that the Hoban's were related to the Carroll's and this family appear on the Griffiths Valuation in Capparanny, so my theory is that the Hoban's married into the Carroll's and moved to Capparanny. So my next step is to find a marriage which links the two familys and this is where i need help. I realise I may be asking the impossible but it is worth a shot. Pat Hoban was born between 1839-1846 according to the 1901 census he is 55 and the 1911 he is 72; his father was Thomas Hoban and this is all I know. Can anyone help? Many thanks Claire Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
