    1. [IRL-MAYO] County Mayo tithe applotments
    2. Pat Connors
    3. I have just added the tithes for Ballintober civil parish to the County Mayo section of my website. Included within the tithes were two old maps of the townland hand drawn in 1834. There is a link to the maps on the Ballintober (called Ballintubber in the tithes) tithes webpage. There are two maps on the map page, but when you click on the map page it looks like there is only one, so scroll down to see the 2nd map, it is neat. -- Pat Connors, Sacramento CA http://www.connorsgenealogy.com

The farm in Derrynalecka has passed through two female inheritances. It is known as the McCann farm - Margaret Kelly (b.1887) married John McCann. She was the only one of 10 children to stay in Ireland and so they inherited the Kelly Farm. My Grandmother ended up receiving the farm as the last of the McCann children to live there and now it is jointly owned by one of my Aunts and two of my Uncles. Author: KeithHaynes29 Surnames: Kelly / McCann Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.ireland.may.general/1551.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am a descendant of this Kelly family. The nine daughters of Thomas Kelly and Maria McManus of Derrynalecka, Co. Mayo, Ireland! My family still own the farm there. It appears that 8 of the daughters left for America along with Thomas - Annie came back to collect him. Only Margaret Kelly stayed behind in Derrynalecka (which is near Kilkelly). Margaret married John McCann (my Great Grandparents) from Derryronan. As the only one left in Ireland, Margaret and John inherited the farm and it has passed into the McCann family. We know that Nora married a Michael McMahon and had a daughter Anastasia, but other than this we have no knowledge of the 8 Kelly sisters in the United States. I would be very interested to learn more from the American side and answer any questions about Derrynalecka and the family in Ireland.
