    1. [IRL-MAYO] Thomas Collins- Tailor
    2. Peter and Joan Collins
    3. Afternoon Diane, I promised that I would let you know how I progressed with Thomas Collins [Tailor] - Mary Haran/Haron and family when I had looked that LDS film no 1279233 that covers Kilconduff civil Parish. The film eventually arrived at Cheltenham FHC. Unfortunately none of the centre's film readers were able to magnify the film enough so that one could make an attempt to read it. It was suggested that I take the film to the Worcester FHC to see if their film readers could help. No such luck, their film readers were just the same. So I am no further forward than the data you help me to get from Irish Family History Foundation As you may Remember we have Thomas COLLINS married to Mary HARAN/HARON Children 1854 Michael COLLINS 1858 John COLLINS 1860 Patrick COLLINS 1863 Mary COLLINS 1868 Mary COLLINS - this data came from a copy of her birth Cert from the GENERAL Register Office Roscommon. That is the only piece of evidence that THOMAS was a TAILOR. So I am still not sure that MICHAEL COLLINS is my Grandfather and the rest is his/MY family. Another question is were their any other children between 1863 and 1868? Any help or suggestion would be appreciated Regards Peter Collins Cheltenham

    1. Re: [IRL-MAYO] Thomas Collins- Tailor
    2. Peter, that's a shame about the readers. Another course would be to e-mail the Mayo North Research Centre ([email protected]) and ask what they'd charge to look for additional children of Thomas and Mary, and their marriage as well. The marriage doesn't show up on the rootsireland site, so Mary may have come from a parish that hasn't been entered yet. Griffith's shows lots of Harans in Kilbeagh/Charlestown and Kilmovee. Kilbeagh and Kilconduff have both been indexed by rootsireland.ie, but Kilmovee hasn't. For a check of those records, you'd have to contact Mayo South ([email protected]). Diane

So, you may want to plug in the word 'unknown' and see if that helps assuming the situation was similar, of course. I get my records online and actually have not looked at LDS records (my mom has done that part of our searching). I agree that you may have to wade through a lot of possibilities since you do not know how old the child was when s/he died, but I still think that it is worth the effort (in my humble opinion). However, there are 36 Daceys in neighboring Toomore parish, probably relatives. Did you try looking for baptisms for the children on the Swineford LDS film? Would seem to be the easiest course.
