Ballina registration district includes several parishes, including Kilmoremoy civil, which correponds to Ballina Catholic and includes Ballina town. Consider buying Mitchell's New Genealogical Atlas of Ireland. It makes comparisons easy. Seanruad.com shows three Ballina townlands in Mayo, the one above in Kilmoremoy, as well as Kilcommon and Kilmainemore. Diane

Hi Joanne, John McNally & Margaret Gibbons McNally were in Meshoppen, Wyoming County, PA in 1852, where their 3rd daughter Ellen was born (my great grandmother). At some point John McNally had died because Margaret remarried, this time to Patrick Geraghty in 1858 at the St Peters Cathedral in Scranton, and then lived in Lackawanna Township / Minooka. Let me know if any of these places are close to your Gibbons. This is a longshot, but do you have more information on the Gibbons? I am trying to find more information on my 2nd great grandmother, Margaret Gibbon born in about 1822, parents were Thomas Gibbons and Jennie Connolly. I know that Margaret Gibbons married John McNally, probably around 1845 and had two children: Bridget (b. 1846) and Mary Jane (b. 1850) (which makes me think her mother was actualy Mary Jane Connolly) before emigrated to Pennsylvania in about 1851. They settled in Scranton, which had a lot of Mayo and Galway Irish at that time. Any help would be appreciated. Gibbons and McNally are fairly common, so it is tough getting a lead on them. My Gibbons were in Chester county, also in the eastern part of the state but near Philadelphia. Not particularly close... See this from another list. I found records of my greatgrandfather being fined for being in possession of "one dog, not his own," and my grandfather charged with assault but case dismissed. Diane >From Irish Genealogy News http://goo.gl/rVH6S FindMyPast Ireland has released 1.2million records from the Irish Petty Sessions Order Books. They've never been online before, and mark the first tranche of a huge collection of records dating from 1850-1910. The remaining 15million records will be released during the year. This first batch is particularly useful for areas of the country that are known to have sparse family history records: Donegal and the five counties of Connaught, but there is also sizable coverage for each of Cavan, Cork, Kilkenny, Monaghan, Offaly, Tipperary, Waterford, Westmeath and Wicklow. http://www.findmypast.ie/search-records/Courts-and-legal You can search the index but must join for details.

You can view transcripts of the records for 5 euros each and see if any birthdates match yours. If Thomas married a girl from Lancashire, it's likely they married there. There's an online index of Lancashire marriages-- http://www.lancashirebmd.org.uk/marriages.php Just plug in their names and see what you get. Many Lancashire church records are on line too, though it's been a long time since I've searched them. Ask someone on the Lancashire list for help. My grandad and his borthers were born from about 1930 onwards so i guess they will have married before then.
