Hello All First off, a Happy Thanksgiving to our American friends. Secondly, when the eating's over and the pace is slow, perhaps SKS on this list can advise me as to how best to learn: The birth dates and birth places of my Great Grandparents, Thomas Plant and Elizabeth Austin of County Longford. I believe Thomas to have been born there circa 1810 and Elizabeth circa 1819. I have reason to believe that Thomas' father was either a John or Robert Plant, his mother Margaret ______?_____. I believe Elizabeth's father probably was Abraham Austin and her mother Catherine _____?________. Thomas and Elizabeth were married 1 Nov 1837 in the Parish of Kilcommock [Keenagh], County Longford, Ireland [Church of Ireland]. The couple's first four children were born in County Longford, probably in the Townland of Barry, in 1841 through '54. Their last three children were born in Upper Canada [now Ontario] from 1857 through '61. I further believe, but have yet to prove, that Thomas' siblings included a John, William and Susan Plant. I am in touch with other Plant siblings currently living in Longford [near Barry] and in Ontario and England. They, too, believe that our GGrandparents were brothers....Thomas and John. Plants found in the 1901 census of Ballymahon town are, I believe, descended from William Plant, probably the third aforementioned brother. Any and all suggestions short of travelling to Ireland will be welcome. Unfortunately, my travelling days are history. Many thanks. Ron Davies Surrey, BC Canada
