So very pleased that you contacted me about Drumlish, Longford. I have met with little success in ferreting out the parish of Drumlish residents/forebears. As an inveterate researcher, I never give up. However, I have found precious little on my people. Since Drumlish/Longford borders so many counties, I have had difficulties/successes, but am still unsure as to the validity of what I have found. I gather the info and toss it into a folder. Then, go on. Not a good technique! The surnames involved in my latest search of the Drumlish area are the surnames as above as well as Masterson and Dolan. These last two lived in the ONeill-Sheridan household in Prov, RI, in the 1800s. Jon Francis Dolan b. 1835, married Catherine ONeill b. 1841, in Prov, RI. Maid servant: Mary/Maria Masterson lived in the ONeill home. According to the Primary Valuation property survey of 1848-64, there were 39 paying ONeills(including all spelling variations) households in Longford. ONeill: Francis "Frank" born in Drumlish in 1798 c. father: Charles mother: Elizabeth source: Providence Directory 1865 married Elizabeth Sheridan born in Drumlish in 1818 c. This marriage produced 7 or 8 children. Two died around the time of the famine. Names unknown. Three were brought to USA with parents (I assume): Catherine b. 1841 c., Margaret b. 1844, and Mary b. 1846. Born in USA: Ellen b. 1856 c.; Francis "Frank A." b. 1859 c.; Eliza b. 1851 c. What interests me about these people is their interest in stylish clothing. Although they were poor, the girls wore beautifully made clothing and ostrich plumed hats with amazing grace. The son went into dry goods and eventually became prominent in the New Haven Malley's Dept. Store which had branches in several other cities. They lived in a very fine neighborhood in what is now a part of Yale Univ. None of these produced any heirs except for John Francis aka Frank A. He and his wife, Sarah Duffy of MA, had a son and five daughters: Frank S. ONeill b. 1895 c. Prov; Mary Harriet b. 5Dec1894 in Prov; Margaret E., b. 1900 c. Prov; Veronica E. b. 1901 c.; Geraldine Bertha b. 1903 c.; unnamed daughter b. 6Oct1892- died the same day in Prov. This entire group moved to New Haven CT from Prov in early 1900s.
