    3. Not a joke with respect to enjoying it, but a few years ago dropped into a pub in the town of Leixlip (sp) County Kildare, to see what Guinnis (sp) tasted like. There was a bunch of noisy Irishmen inside, toasting the local football team, toasting about anything that could be toasted. One spotted me as a stranger right away and commenced to make a toast to the visitor. As I sat down at the bar, two of them three sheets in the wind I detected, sat down on each side of me......the one on the left with his nose practically in my ear, asked, "will you have a brew on us." I carefully, very carefully, allowed it was a neighborly act which I would greatfully accept. "Ah" upon hearing my voice "we have an American here. What is your name Sir." I answered Kelly and the immediate area became quiet for an uncomfortable length of time. "Be ye related to our Kelly's here? Fine football player one." The other said, "There is the Kellys on the river. They build boats. Then there is Doctor Kelly." A third chipped in, "Biggest thieves in all of Kildare." More uncomfortable silence. Well I finished my drink bought a round, went to the restroom where I still am, having used the facility and promptly walked out the back door unseen. I imagine if I stayed there would have errupted a really big bru ha. I pictured an American in their jail and felt it the better part of valor to quietly leave. hugs around Don Kelly ----- Original Message ----- From: "Christina Hunt" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, January 17, 2005 8:32 AM Subject: [LONGFORD] 2nd semi annual Humor/Humour week Jan. 22-29th > As the January blahs have set in, it seems like time for humor week is > upon > us. > So, starting on Saturday Jan 22- Saturday Jan 29th, you can commence > sending > your saved up jokes to the list. > > GROUND RULES! > In the subject line put [HUMOR] or [HUMOUR] as the case may be.
