Good morning Mary: Genealogical research, including all DNA programs for the MACKLINs of Ireland, Canada, Australia and the US is run through the Macklin Foundation of Toronto Canada. It may have been one of our team doing a little investigation in Co Tyrone and Co Down. The latter is where most of the Macklins live in Ireland these days including a cluster in Dublin. One of our last projects is to find John Macklin [b 1790 d 1860 Co Tyrone/Down] married to Mary Murtagh [b 1795 d 1868 Co Down]. Mary was from Longford, Co Longford. We are currently looking in Longford and Down for the cemetery and headstone and nothing has turned up yet. If some of your family is connected to the Macklin family who are Brythonic Celts [before the Iberian Celts arrived from Spain in Ireland] then you may wish to do some DNA research to pin down the family connection. Interestingly enough we do have a McGuigan in the tree with Macklin DNA, and as yet we do not know how that name arrived. Very interesting that you write. Take care. I didn't really pay attention to it, but I just got a little tidbit of info from a cousin. She said that our g g grandfather was registered as John MACKLIN instead of MACKEL. I don't know if the name was originally Macklin, or if it was just an error in registration. I'm estimating his birth at about 1845-1850 or so. I have no info before this time. And my Mackels stayed in Belfast after that generation. If this sounds familiar to anyone, please let me know. Thanks Mary Adams Arroyo CT, USA
