`Hi, I discovered my mother's GGF came to the US from Ireland between 1875 and early 1880 as they are in the 1880 census. I've not been able to find record of them coming into the country or on ships going into Canada. Robert and Catherine Kelly O'Reilly/Reilly/Riley are the parents. Their first child is James, my GGF, who is baptized in 1850 at Newtown Forbes John Reilly (1852) and Mary Ann (1854) at St Mary's Edgeworthstown Robert Reilly (1861) Elizabeth (1864-5) Kate (1859) Margaret 6 Mar 1871 Ballinalee, Longford Jane (1871?) Spelling of family name is Rielly with parents Robert and Catherine 1880 census for Brooklyn, ED 222, SD 2 Baltic Street Riley, Robert, 50 , b. 1830 Laborer Riley, Robert Jr 19 Laborer Catherine 21 Elizabeth 16 b. 1864/5 Margaret 9 b. 6 Mar 1871 Ballinalee The following children are not listed with the family at this address: James b.1850 (Newtown Forbes) who married in Brooklyn in 1876 and moved to Mamakating, NY James lists his age as six years younger than he actually is it is -1856 instead of 1850. John Riley, b .2 May 1852 St Mary's Edgeworthstown He's a widower who dies in Brooklyn in Dec 1924 and is buried in Holy Cross Cemetery Brooklyn Mary Ann Reilly b. 1854 St Mary's, Edgeworthstown Jane Reilly b. 1874? Found a baptism listed as Rielly for Robert & Catherine I've also found the obituary of my GGF James Reilly who died on May 11, 1906 in Orange County, NY This lists his children George W. (Of Middletown); Charles - Burlingham Mamie of Goshen Mrs Sadie McCue of NYC. Also his two sisters Mrs. Clark of NYC and Margaret Reilly and two brothers: John and Robert in Brooklyn. I believe Mrs. Clark to be Elizabeth. Mamie is Mary Reilly also called Minnie on other documents. She is a nurse who trained at Thrall School of Nursing in Middletown. The last daughter, Jane, b. in 1874 remained in Ireland and is living in Belfast at the time of John's death in 1924. Catherine Reilly married James Hart(e)(en) in 1882 in Chicago. James Harte entered through NYC.but relocated to Chicago. I think that Catherine Reilly, the wife of Robert Reilly Sr may have died in childbirth or soon after the birth of Jane. The rest of the family goes to America and Jane is left in Ireland with family. She's living in Dublin in 1924 when her brother John dies and leaves an estate of $3,000 cash and "some worthless lots on Long Island." Can anyone help me find them entering the US? They may have come through Canada. The information above is all that I have. Thanks for any tips, ideas, especially bright ideas and comments. Thanks!
