To the list: I have just received the marriage certificates for my Grandparents and my Grandmother's brother. They were both married here in the USA. The maiden name of their mother is down as Katie Kelly. My question is: Is her name Katie or Catherine. Since I will be sending for birth certificates in Ireland and they ask for her name, is Katie a nickname or would that be her forename?
