Eliz in N.Y. My grandmother's given name was Malvina Jane, nickname Jennie. Her marriage cert. is written Jennie M. Burlingame. My g-grandmother's name was Elizabeth (to the best of my knowledge), born in Ireland (county unknown), married in New York using the name Lizzie on her marriage cert. Seems our ancestors chose to use their nicknames so maybe you could ask for "Katie, Catherine, or Kathleen."
