    3. Still searching for any 19C Longford MOYNAGHs, especially B, M and D, & parents or other family of: Francis MOYNAGH, labourer, then soldier (1st of Foot 1823-44). Age 18 when enlisted, so born circa 1805, said to be at 'Abeylaid, near Edgeworthstown', but nobody's heard of it! Deceased by 1880 (?? during the famine, as discharged from Army very disabled in 1844). Also birth of his son: Michael MOYNAGH born circa 1845 - no idea where. A 'musician' who later moved to England, married in Liverpool 1880. Any one heard of 'Abeylaid' - quite clearly written as above in his 1823-44 Army papers. Others have suggested Abbeylara, but would that be described as 'near Edgesworthtown'? I would also be most interested to learn of ANY Moynaghs, an uncommon name, from Co. Longford? Until I found Francis' army papers, our family had always been told we hailed from Cavan, but no trace of him there. -- _ ________________________________________ /_| _ _ _ /| /_ _/_ /' / || (_|(_)/ |/(/_/_ / The Internet Experts ________) ___________./ pmoynagh@orpheusinternet.co.uk
