My great grandparents Eliza Matthews and James Frazer (Frazier) stated on their NY Immigrant Savings Bank application that they were from Longford. I am not sure whether they meant Longford the town or Longford County. They came to NYC separately. Eliza in 1856 age 17 and James in 1852 (no record of arrival) age between 11 and 13. I give this background information because I would like to know how likely was it that persons of the ages stated above who were residents of Longford at time of immigration were also born in Longford. In short did families of this time tend to stay in one place? patricia
