    3. Hello Longford Listers! I am researching two of my family lines in Longford and have two separate ancestors to find. i do not have any definite parish information. The two names with all the information I have to date are below. If any of this seems familiar to you, please let me know. Thanks for your time, Nellie Finnegan ******************************************************* ANCESTOR #1 MICHAEL COX ******************************************************** ANCESTOR'S NAME: Michael Cox ANCESTOR'S PLACE OF BIRTH: County Longford PARISH: ?? (possible lead from Longford website to Ardagh parish with a John Cox and Mary Kane as parents of Michael b.1838?????) ANCESTORS FATHER: John Cox ANCESTORS MOTHER: Mary ANCESTORS APPROXIMATE YEAR OF BIRTH: May 21, 1840 (year is approximate) ANCESTORS RELIGION: Roman Catholic DID ANCESTOR MARRY IN COUNTY LONGFORD? I assume Michaels' parents did sometime before 1840. BROTHERS OR SISTERS: Don't know EMIGRATION: I don't know exactly when Michael emigrated to the U.S., but it was before 1880, and probably before 1874. I do not think his parents left Ireland. MARRIAGE: Michael Cox married Teresa Keating from Count Laois (aka Queen) but I don't know where they were married. They lived in Coxsackie, New York, which is south of Albany, with their daughter born in 1880; he died Oct 26, 1913 and is buried in St. Mary's Cemetery in Coxsackie with Teresa Keating Cox. His only child, Mary Anastasia Cox (married name Dishman) was my paternal grandmother, and she is also buried at St. Mary's. ******************************************************** ANCESTOR #2 MARY E. WALSH ******************************************************** ANCESTOR'S NAME: Mary E. Walsh ANCESTOR'S PLACE OF BIRTH: County Longford ANCESTORS FATHER: Martin Walsh ANCESTORS MOTHER: Margaret Clifton ANCESTORS APPROXIMATE YEAR OF BIRTH: 1850-1854 (approximately) ANCESTORS RELIGION: Roman Catholic DID ANCESTOR MARRY IN COUNTY LONGFORD? I assume Mary parents did sometime before 1850. BROTHERS OR SISTERS: Possibly Edward and/or Cornelius EMIGRATION: Mary emigrated to New York City, U.S. between 1864-1868. I do not think her parents came with her. Edward and Cornelius Walsh did and lived here in the New York area. MARRIAGE: Mary Walsh married Richard Dishman about 1868-9. They lived in Brooklyn, New York, and had 8 children, one of whom was my grandfather Henry Francis Dishman.
