Have been enjoying the conversations back and forth, although none pertains to my families. Thought I'd mention the names I'm researching, just in case someone out there has a clue or two. Am researching McCAFFREY family - William came to Brooklyn NY before 1843. Also GANNON family - Ellen Catherine came with her family to Brooklyn NY in the 1820s. William and Catherine were married in Brooklyn in early 1840s. Only clue to Irish heritage found so far - in dispension papers, first daughter born in County Longford. Did both families, in fact, come from there? Other families of interest to me are HOGAN and GRADY. No clue thus far as to county of origin in Ireland - but they were married there, so when I find one, I will find the other! My greatgrandmother HOGAN married McCAFFREY.
