Debbi, I always wondered what was the reason my great great grands disapproved of their daughter's marriage. The daughter came to this country from Longford Co. where she wed her man in New Orleans at St Patrick's on January 31,1861. Children all raised Catholic. Years later I discovered she was not the Catholic from birth, but Protestant. So she must have taken her husband's faith and christened the children Catholic. That religious difference may have been what her parents resented. Oh, you've got to be a detective in this business if any answers are to be found.
