The LDS has a film, i don't remember the number, of Catholic Parishes in Longford, with births from 1829-1880, or so. I was in contact with an irishman from Longford County a few weeks ago, and he also mentioned NewtownForbes as being the Catholic Parishes. I hope this bit of information helps you with your quest.
