Although my gggrandfather's name was written as Bernard Heslan I'm sure that "Heslin" is the same name. He was born c 1830 and in 1847 signed up for the army at Maguiresbridge. The record says he came from Ardagh and his father Patrick was a linen weaver. There was also a John Heslan signed up at the same time as Bernard. If you could help me find out more about this family I'd be very grateful. Chris McGrath
This is a coincidence!! My GGF's name was Bernard D. Heslin born 1844 Co. Longford. Migrated to the US and married 1876 to Mary Ellen Lomasney in WVa and then migrated to Columbus, OH. My GGF died 1904 Columbus OH. They parented 4 children including my GF John Joseph Heslin born Sept.1, 1885, died May 1, 1968. My father's name was Bernard Joseph Heslin b July 3, 1923, died April 1980. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Chris McGrath" <chris@cmcgrath.freeserve.co.uk> To: <IRL-LONGFORD-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, September 12, 2000 5:41 PM Subject: Re: [LONGFORD~] McLoughlin > Although my gggrandfather's name was written as Bernard Heslan I'm sure that > "Heslin" is the same name.
