My great-grandfather, Thomas McGOEY (born abt. 1820) married Anna HART (born abt. 1828) in County Longford. Catherine McGOEY married James HART in County Longford. I believe Thomas and Catherine were siblings and I know that Anna and James were siblings. The other HART sisters married a McLOUGHLIN, REYNOLDS, and MAHONS, who I believe were from County Longford, but I am not sure. In Catherine (McGOEY) HART's obituary (died abt. 1911 in Illinois, USA), it listed her father as P.D. McGoey from County Longford. I have no other information on P.D. McGoey. If you have any information on these surnames, including P.D. McGOEY, I would like to hear from you. Thomas McGoey tlmcgoey@athenet.net
I am researching the ancestry of Patrick DEVINE who m. Ellen CASY on 17 November 1871. They lived in Ballymahon. Patrick died bef 1901. Ellen was in the valuations in Ballymahon until abt 1909. I don't know for sure when she died. Any info appreciated. Thanks, Christina
I thought this might be a good time for a ROLL CALL. If you haven't run into this before...just post your surnames and a little identifying info. Since membership in a list like this changes it is a good idea to post your interests from time to time. Put your surnames in the subject line so people who are interested won't pass over them. I tend to skip over emails that say "Roll Call" myself. Regards, Christina

Hello... I have volunteered to take over the job as listowner for County Longford which has been under the wing of Dick McCoach. I am also the webmaster for the County Longford Ireland GenWeb page so it seems natural to step in and oversee this list. If there are any problems with your subscription to the list or anything else I can help with do let me know. Best wishes, Christina Ninah@ix.netcom.com
I am looking for information on the following: Ellen Dunleavy born in Ireland between 1870-1890 Ellen married David Ahearn who was born about 1871. Luke Cunningham born about 1798 in Ireland. I am not certain of the dates of any of this information because I am getting it from a cousins memory. Luke might not be Mr. Cunningham's given name. The Cunninghams in my family tend to use their middle name which makes my search that more difficult. Luke migrated to Nova Scotia, Canada in the middle 1800s David Ahearn left Ireland to come to the United States sometime before 1898. He came over with his children but I can;t find anything on what happened to Ellen. e-mail me at fran104@s0way.com thank you Frances McDevitt LaMarco
I've spent 2 nights reading thru this file. Thank you for being there. My George McCord left Ireland in 1847. He had been born in 1827 at Longford. He was naturalized in Pennsylvania, USA in 1871. I will be looking for more info on my McCord's in Longford in the future. When in Longford in 1986 I did find out there was still a McCord living in the area. I spent a short time in the Library and talked to people there. Just getting myself established on your list. Would like to hear from other McCord searchers. Drumlish is a parish but there is also a townland called Drumlish within that parish as I read it. Maybe someone can contradict me if I'm wrong, but I had a good look at it before I went to Ireland so I could ask for help at the Longford Heritage Centre. I've just taken another look and apparently the Ordnance Survey Memoirs are not available for Co. Longford, and the only parish covered for Leitrim (in Vol 40) is Manorhamilton Union. It seems only Ulster is covered, (at least in this series through Queen's University, Belfast). I guess I was just too enthousiastic in trying to help. For those who still want to know ways to order them (for other counties, unfortunately). The volumes are avalable through globalgenealogy, see : http://globalgenealogy.com/books/334mem.htm Take a look at this page - for those in the US, you can buy them in $US. In other countries (like you and I Beryl) they're available at Queen's University, Belfast, (the address is given on this page) but must be paid in British Pounds. http://members.aol.com/Manus2/osmemo.html
