    1. [IRL-LONGFORD] RE: Cunningham/Dunleavy
    2. My branch of the Dunleavy family is located in the townsland of Ohill/Oghill, which is not far from the town of Drumlish. Unfortunately the name Ellen Dunleavy seems to have been fairly popular during the time that you mentioned. The following is a list from Ohill: (1) Ellen Dunleavy, born in 1884, daughter of John Dunleavy and Anne Connolly. (2) Ellen Dunleavy, born in 1883, daughter of Thomas Dunleavy and Bridget Kenny. (3) Ellen/Eleanor Dunleavy, born in 1876, daughter of John Dunleavy and Catherine Farrell. (4) Ellen Dunleavy, born in approximately 1885, daughter of Patrick Dunleavy and Bridget Hogan. Numbers (2), (3) and (4) were all first cousins, their fathers being brothers. Number (1) was likely a second or third cousin. Number (4) was my father's aunt and moved to Hartford, Conn., as did her brother John Dunleavy. I will ask my father about David Ahearn and let you know if I find out anything. Hope this is helpful. Mike Dunleavy in Ottawa, Canada. -----Original Message----- From: Fran LaMarco [mailto:fran104@s-way.com] Sent: November 22, 2000 4:09 PM To: IRL-LONGFORD-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Cunningham/Dunleavy I am looking for information on the following: Ellen Dunleavy born in Ireland between 1870-1890 Ellen married David Ahearn who was born about 1871. Luke Cunningham born about 1798 in Ireland. I am not certain of the dates of any of this information because I am getting it from a cousins memory. Luke might not be Mr. Cunningham's given name. The Cunninghams in my family tend to use their middle name which makes my search that more difficult. Luke migrated to Nova Scotia, Canada in the middle 1800s David Ahearn left Ireland to come to the United States sometime before 1898. He came over with his children but I can;t find anything on what happened to Ellen. e-mail me at fran104@s0way.com thank you Frances McDevitt LaMarco ______________________________

    3. I wanted to make note that the messages from the Genconnect board for Co Longford have been gatewayed so that they also show up on the list. The previous listowner was in the process of doing this so I have completed the link up. What this means is that all queries will also appear on this list. There is a link to the query on the email message so you can click on the link and go to the appropriate message to respond. Unlike Genforum, you can also click on the person's name (with most browsers) and write a direct email. It is up to you when to go direct to the other party, but if you are getting more into "conversation" you may as well email directly rather than publicly. Let me know if you have any difficulties with this. Regards, Christina Ninah@ix.netcom.com

    2. Colon
    3. Just thought I would try posting my interests again, in the hope that someone new to the list might see something familiar. I am trying to find information on the family of my great-grandfather, Patrick REARDON, from County Longford, who was born c. 1855. He came to the US about 1889, when he was about 34 years of age. He settled in Paterson, N.J., where he was employed as a stone mason. His first wife was Nora/Hannah (?Hanorah) DONNELLY. I don't know if they married in Ireland or after he came to NJ. They had 2 children born in NJ, Mary and John. After his first wife died, he married a Mary DONOHUE, daughter of Thomas and Ann GLEESON. On the church record for his 2nd marriage record, his parents are listed as Patrick REARDON and Ellen GORMAN. Supposed, he also had a sister, Kate or Katherine, and a brother, Michael. I have found records for other children born to a Patrick REARDON and an E. GORMAN but not the birth of a son, Patrick. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Pat

    3. Hi All, There seems to be some confusion between designations of Civil Parish , RC Parish & Towland. This is sometimes confusing for new people. From a RC point of view it would be referred to as the The Longford Parish of Templemichael. In addition I believe the present Family Centre in longford was the site of a Chapel before ST. Mels was built. It could be that that the people could have been from Templemichael Glebe. Its hard to say. In additon from the Church of Ireland view-Templemichael in County Longford is part of the Ardagh Diocese. Which contains St. John's on Battery Road. I could be corrected perhaps David Leahy or Luke Baxter from Longford would be a good source to consider for these type of questions. On my website which isn't complete from a Townland point of view, one can click on the different designations PLU/BARONY/ in addition for some of the Civil Parishes you can click on them and the Townlands will be available.
