Templemichael Glebe still exists as a townland in Templemichael Parish, Co Longford. There are 4 other townlands, in other counties, throughout Ireland called Templemichael. I found no trace of Templechurch, but remember a"glebe" is defined as cultivated land producing revenue for the parish church. You can check www.seanruad.com to search any existing townland in Ireland. Because there are many variations in spelling in documents, and the site lets you use part of the name to search, you may sometimes have to use creative spelling, and think phonetically, to find what you're looking for. Posted on: County Longford, Ireland Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/Ireland/Longford/716 Surname: RODGERS, DEVLIN, COX, PURCELL, PHAIR ------------------------- I believe NewtownForbes is the name of the Catholic Parish in Longford. The LDS has a film, i don't remember the number, of Catholic Parishes in Longford, with births from 1829-1880, or so. I was in contact with an irishman from Longford County a few weeks ago, and he also mentioned NewtownForbes as being the Catholic Parishes. I hope this bit of information helps you with your quest. Posted on: County Longford, Ireland Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/Ireland/Longford/715 Surname: RODGERS, DEVLIN, COX, PURCELL, PHAIR ------------------------- I don't know if this will help you, but my great-great-grandfather was Edward RODGERS from Longford County, born abt. 1842. He enlisted in the 67th Foot Regiment in 1864 at Balymahon, Longford. He was stationed at Athlone. I don't know if Athlone is in County Longford or not, but on the map it is located in the South East portion of either Longford, or the adjoining county, and i've forgotten which county that is, perhaps Rosecommin. That is the only military barracks in the area, that i know of. Good Luck in your quest. Roger

As anyone come across this name. Also where is Templechurch? >> Dave, Templemichael is supposed to be in Templemichael civil parish, the area around Lonford town and a bit to the west and southeast. But I can't find it on my Discovery maps of the area, so I went to some townland maps for Longford on the web. The map made of Templemichael parish townlands, by the Moffat family, is at : >>> http://personal.nbnet.nb.ca/tmoffatt/Templemichaelmap.html <<< As you will notice, there no longer seems to be a Templemichael townland shown as a separate entity. I would guess that it has been subsumed by Longford Town, and is now just an area of the town itself. Just a guess, though. As far as Templechurch is concerned, there are none listed for Longford county nor for anywhere else in Ireland (that surprised me, too - I would have thought there'd be at least a dozen). So, I'd say were at about a half, out of two, for answers. Sorry. At least we know that Templemichael is/was near Longford town.
