    1. [IRL-LONGFORD] ROLL CALL
    2. I was away when Christina called for a ROLL CALL. Thought I would put in the relations I am trying to connect with. My gr-gr-gr-grandfather was JOHN GERAGHTY (GARRITY). He was one of seven brothers in Co. Longford. Brothers: Pat, Thomas, Hugh, Mike, Jimmy and Andy. I believe John was born about 1818/1819. John was said to be a teacher. John married Ann KEOGH (KEYHO). They had four children, Mary, Ann, Thomas and John. Ann died about 1840/1845 and John remarried to Bridget CARNEY (KARNY). John and Bridget had four children; Catherine, Bridget, Margaret and Michael. John, Bridget and children immigrated to the States about 1954, via New York they settled in Mt Savage, Maryland. The two eldest daughters, Mary and Ann, stayed in New York, marring respectively, Thomas MULLANEY and Patrick HANLEY. If any of this looks at all familiar, I would love to hear from you.

    1. [IRL-LONGFORD] Search Engines
    2. Christina Hunt
    3. Hi there! I wanted to let you know that the Co Longford GenWeb site now has two search engines. I have been looking for a search engine that would do exact phrase searches. However, I tested the exact search capability out and found that Pico Search will find John Doe but not Doe, John which is mostly what is needed. I emailed their support team and was told that they are working on the problem. They did point out that you can use the search terms John NEAR Doe which will find the words within 10 words which will narrow your search down quite a bit. The other search engine, Free Find, can use wildcards so you can put Smi* and get Smith and Smithers etc. This is useful for names with more than one spelling. I am going to leave both search engines on the webpage since they have different uses. Good luck, Christina http://www.rootsweb.com/~irllog/
