    2. Matt Mahady
    3. Claire, having previously sent you my various Brady/Mahady Connections, I decided to double check my Brady Index, and found a Michael Brady in my Files, which I could not find any record of being sent to you previously. Decided to send you the complete details of my Great Grandparents due to the further evidence of the Mahady & Brady Connection and the fact that your message specifically states the location as being Clonbroney Parish. You may also find other names therein which connect with your own Bradys. Matt Mahady ----------- MMM 32 William* MAHADY married Ann* CAHERLY 4 March 1859, Parochial House, Ballinalee, Co.Longford. Witnesses - Michael Gunshinan & Sara Minahan. * My Great Grandparents from Clonbroney, Co.Longford, which was just up the road from Ballinalee Church. The variant spellings, Mahedy and Mahody, were also used when the various births were being registered. The name Caherly also shown as Caherley and Cahill. Some of the Birth Records were found at Ballinalee whilst others were copied from the Register Books held at the Clinic, Longford Hospital, Longford Town. Children:- 32.1 James** born September 1860 Clonbroney. Birth found recorded at Longford Clinic. ** James has been included as the first child in this family due to William being named as the father, with the name M.Young also being recorded on the Register, however, no other family has been found in, and around, this area where any children have been born, within the period 1860 to 1870, nor with a father named William. I am of the opinion, unless proved otherwise, that M.Young was a witness at the birth and not the mother, as I had incorrectly assumed when recording this information at the Longford Clinic. This birth requires confirmation. No other reference to an M.Young has ever been found. 32.2 William* born 17 May 1862 Clonbroney Sponsors - James Smythe & Marie McNamee. Birth found recorded at Longford Clinic. * William died 26 April1865 **Loughill,Ballinalee. ** Laughil is the spelling on the old Irish maps. 32.3 Elizabeth born 13 December 1863 Clonbroney. Sponsors - MICHAEL BRADY & Margaret Caherly. Birth found recorded at Longford Clinic. 32.4 Catherine born 1 October 1865 Clonbroney. Sponsors - Michael Mahady & Anne McGavin. Birth found in Ballinalee Church Records. 32.5 Thomas born 23 March 1867 Lislea, Co.Longford. No other details available at this stage. Birth found in Ballinalee Church Records. 32.6 Matthew*** born 1 March 1869 Loughill/Laughil. No other details available at this stage. Birth found in Ballinalee Church Records. *** This was my own Grandfather - Matthew Mahady. 32.7 William**** born 19 October 1872 at Granard. Sponsors - James Mahady & Catherine Caherly. Birth Record found at Parochial House, Granard. **** This was the 2nd child of Family to be named William, due to death of first William at age 2. ----------- See MMM 32 ----- Original Message ----- From: "White, Claire - SOL" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, 10 August 2004 6:02 AM Subject: Rollcall: BRADY My great grandfather, James Brady, from the townland of Kiltyclogh, Clonbroney Parish, married my great grandmother, Mary Brady (yes!) from the townland of Arghamore, Clonbroney Parish, in 1864, and moved to England. I am doing well with the family history after James moved to England, and have actually found a relative in my generation there. I'm trying hard to work on Ireland, and through David Leahy have found James and Mary's marriage certificate indicating the information above. I have also found their respective Brady families in the same townlands in the older Tithe Applotments, and later Griffith's Valuations. From various sources, I have determined that the only Bradys listed in the two townlands in those two sources are likely mine. Is there someone out there in the Auld Sod who could assist me in a long shot and check a phone book for Bradys who might still be in Kiltyclogh or Arghamore? Patrick, Michael, John, James, Edward and Matthew are the old first names, though I know that means little now. Thanks so much! Claire Brady White

    3. Good morning Cara and Brian. Looks like it will take years to get a searchable data base on JMD's for Ireland. I already have copies of the JMD jackets and had it multigraphed as wall paper. A searchable data base is what is required for any serious genealogist so we know which CD to buy rather than using the ubiquitous shot gun method.JMD's will have to follow the same cycle as the Griffiths Valuation volumes. Yes we are working on the JMD's for Wexford, Wicklow and Dublin. We hope to have this out before Xmas, as we're running a little late on our original plan. What we are planning at the moment is a CD with the images of the books and a structured database to search this CD.
