    2. Oh Susan, you have been so sweet in trying to help with the GERAGHTY family, and I am grateful. But!! ...Much to my regret, I have made an error.....my Geraghty came from SLIGO...and not Longford. His grandaughter married a Duggan, but in the Bronx,NY and not in Ireland. Geraghty married a Gilmartin from Ahamlish, which is somewhere near Sligo, possible the same county. Please accept an apology for having taken up your time. Once again, thank you very much. Ursula

    2. Susan, Your Geraghty's are in the right neck of the woods. My family still lives in Gurteen (a little townland outside of Ballymahon) and most of the g, g, g, g's were Baptised or Married in the Shrule area. Do you have names of children?? I will ask my cousin to check with the local Priest to see if anything comes up in the records. Let me know. Susan Mulledy

    2. Ursula, I will check with my cousin who is married to a Duggan, they live in a little townland called Gurteen, which is right outside of Ballymahon. I have noticed a lot of marrying between, Mulleady's, Geraghty's, Kilduff's, Horse's and as I said my cousin is married into the Duggan family. I am going to look through my records from the Horse side as it shows a lot of Baptismal Sponsers. Could you give more names (first names). Thanks, Susan Mulledy

    2. Hi Everybody, Are there any Barry's, Ryan's, and Kerrigan's among you? Kerrigan was born in County Longford in 1848. Barry and Ryan were also born in Ireland, but I do not know the county. All lived in Manhattan, NY. in the late 19th century. Any information will be appreciated. Thank you. Ursula

    3. William Woods and Margaret Geraghty baptised their children in the parish of Shrule between 1836 and 1846. The Longford History Centre said they could find no record of their marriage record in Longford. 3. This solves a puzzle of ours! We have a MARGARET HESK who married the son of an Irishman in London and her name is spelt MARGRET sometimes - perhaps when her husband or father-in-law gave it! Their name was OLLARD but we've never found the Irish connection.... Go well! 3. I wanted to mention that we are finding a couple of names almost universally "misspelled" in the census pages. Different constables and some people filled out the forms themselves. So, as a hint for searching - Catherine is often spelled Cathrine. Margaret can be Margret. Those are the main two I wanted you to be aware of. Happy hunting, Christina

    2. Bev- I have the direct line of descent between Hubert Ferril (c.1593) all the way down to my grest-grandmother, Lida Liza Lulu Jane Ferrell (1886- 1966). I don't have siblings, some spouse names, etc...but am currently researching. I sugest trying : www.imt.net/~toss/Farrell.html and ourworld.cs.com/TheFarrellClan/ . They have been a great help. Also FirstMom's research site and Cyndislist.com provided good links. Should you like my genealogy regarding my Ferrells, I am setting up a webpage soon. Good Luck. 1. Geraghty
    2. Susan Pahad
    3. Supposedly my great grandmother was named Geraghty (we always thought it was Delaney). We got Geraghty from the Longford Research Centre. Her name was Margaret and she married William Woods. They left for Canada around 1850-55 with their children and settled in Toronto.
