To-day I have received notification that no registration appears for this person in this time frame. Why would this be & what are my options. Regards, Robyn Wright. ------------------------------ Message: 2 Date: Tue, 22 May 2012 08:30:43 -0400 From: Christina Hunt <chrisnina@gmail.com> Subject: Re: [IRL-LIMERICK] death certificate To: irl-limerick@rootsweb.com Message-ID: <4FBB86F3.1040507@gmail.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed Les, Try to find him in the index so you can supply the exact information on volume and so forth. https://familysearch.org/search/collection/show#uri=http://familysearch.org/ searchapi/search/collection/1408347 Some people just failed to register. I sometimes look up people from their headstones to verify a date or name, and some just aren't there. Would the area Kilmallock be possible. Johns address at the time of death was Colloomey St, now Wolfe Tone Street A grandson of his Thomas Byrne lived in the Kilmallock area! Where is Cratloe in relation to Limerick city & what sought of an area is it? We were told that in the early years of Civil records, no penalty was?applied for deaths & marriages.? It was only in later years that it was enforced (late 19th century).? Our source was from the Waterford Heritage on Jenkins Lane, in the 1990s.? Assume this was true in all the counties. I have a brick wall caused by a marriage that was never registered. That was in Longford, so it happened all over. Since I look on the death index a lot I am inclined to think the number is higher for deaths. People were probably grieving and didn't want to deal with it. I also noticed that the record might fall into the registration period following the death. I had a headstone with a March date yesterday and found a very good match in April-June. That made sense.
