Fellow Researchers With the continued efforts of our magnificent index volunteers the number of index entries on the project websites has surpassed 100,000. Thus we have 100,000 record that we can search for free using the search page: http://members.pcug.org.au/~nickred/deeds/search_index.html The Registry of Deeds contains an immense amount of data useful for genealogists. While it has often been considered inaccessible the Registry of Deeds Index Project is gradually, through the contributions of its volunteers, making the records more accessible. There are millions of names in the registry and the index project has only 100,000 and thus has a long way to go. Nevertheless, this is an important milestone for the project. Like all indexes the project index entries will have some errors. Hopefully, these are minor and do not detract from the substantial progress made in publishing a full name index. Anyone can contribute index entries using a number of channels including emailing spreadsheets and other documents to the webmaster, and through a web form. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~registryofdeeds/forms/make_abstract.htm If you have not looked at the Registry of Deeds you may be interested in a number of guides: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~registryofdeeds/guides/index.html http://www.johngrenham.com/ITtraining/links/ Please feel free to cross post this to other Irish mailing lists.
