Kerryn, you asked about where to find "further Limerick information". What kind of thing are you hoping to find? If your John Barry was a servant (or was that his daughter Catherine's occupation?), he probably did not create very many records beyond church records: his own baptism and marriage and baptisms of his children. If you are lucky, you can perhaps find those. I have an interest in Barrys of County Limerick, and I can tell you from experience that it is often very difficult to figure out whether a particular record for a "John Barry" applies to your John Barry or to some other man with the same name, especially if he was a servant or laborer. If he had a very unusual occupation, it is a bit easier. There were just too many men by that name in Limerick (and Cork Barrys sometimes strayed into Limerick also). I can at least tell you where the name of Catherine Barry's mother Mary Boyle appears in Australian records: in Catherine's *church* marriage record. I found this extraction in FamilySearch at https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XTZ6-PQ4 "Australia, Marriages, 1810-1980," Catharinam Barry, 1853 Groom's Name: Georgium Adams Bride's Name: Catharinam Barry Marriage Date: 19 Jun 1853 Marriage Place: Fremantle, Perth, Western Australia, Australia Groom's Father's Name: Edwardi Adams Groom's Mother's Name: Susanna Morice Bride's Father's Name: Joannis Barry Bride's Mother's Name: Maria Boyle Groom's Marital Status: Unknown Bride's Marital Status: Unknown Indexing Project (Batch) Number: M00388-5 System Origin: Australia Source Film Number: 1363695 Reference Number: P3 CN9 Source Citation "Australia, Marriages, 1810-1980," index, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XTZ6-PQ4 : accessed 3 July 2012), Catharinam Barry, 1853. The film number above refers to the following microfilm held by the Family History Library: Catholic church records of Fremantle, 1850-1973 authors: Catholic Church. St. Patrick's (Fremantle, Western Australia) format: Manuscript/Manuscript on Film language: English, Latin publication: Salt Lake City, Utah : Filmed by the Genealogical Society of Utah, 1983-1998 physical: 3 microfilm reels : 35 mm. Notes Microfilm of records at St. Mary's Cathedral, Perth, Western Australia. Text in Latin and English. So, it seems her mother's name is listed in her church marriage record. Another couple (not yours) named John Barry and Mary Boyle had children much later in County Limerick, including a Catherine whose birth was registered in 1868 in Limerick City. I think she might be the one who died in Chicago, Illinois, USA in 1939 as Catherine Schulze (married name)... Probably no connection to yours - just a coincidence of names, which is one of the "joys" of Irish research! Have you explored the 11 entries at IFHF for birth/baptism records where the parents are John Barry and Mary Boyle? Some of those are for the later couple. A couple did not always have all their children baptized in the same church. I have many examples of this from my own research. So do not discount the possibility that you might find other children of the same couple born or baptized in other parishes or even in other counties in Ireland, and perhaps even in other countries (e.g., England, Scotland).
