Sorry Jennifer, can't help you with Embarkation records to South Africa. Have you tried emailing any regimental museum for the 27th Regiment of foot just in case they can help with those records. I found this on the 27th Regt of Foot, not sure whether it is applicable to your fellow. http://www.armymuseums.org.uk/amot-search/default.asp?Category=Amot&Service= Museum-Displayhttp://www.armymuseums.org.uk/amot-search/default.asp?Category =Amot&Service=Museum-Display Cheers Joan Thank you Joan. That site is mainly for research into SA's Dutch ancestry. I understand that the 27th went to South Africa in 1835 on 'The George' but have yet to find those embarkation records. Any ideas appreciated. Jennifer Sorry it was of no help Jennifer. Would this site be of any help with SA info? http://www.e-family.co.za/ Joan Thank you Joan. I actually have no interest in the India connection, as my ancestors went from Ireland with the 27th Foot Regt to South Africa, but I was hoping that there might be some of the extensive information you mentioned on those Embarkation Records too. Kind Regards, Jennifer
The Enniskillen museum gave me that information, but don't have embarkation records. I was interested in yours that gave so such information, so I'll persue that route until I find it. Thanks for your help.
